Rio Tinto business units operating within the control room of their ROC identified a need for two video wall systems to be utilised for operational purposes, servicing a significant number of key operational personnel. The size and operational capacity of the
video wall systems represented a challenge of both structure and function requiring suitable product and engineering knowledge.
The system installed incorporates a curved Video Wall made up of an array of 2 high by 10 wide rear projection 70 1920x1080 units, and a straight Video Wall also made of an array of 2 high and 10 wide rear projection units. Both walls have been designed with the ability to expand both in height and width.
Concept AV provided a complete design, installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance service, including all facets from structural design to acoustic considerations, and including signal distribution and management, sight-line analysis, ventilation, lighting, and power requirements.
Operating within a very tight time frame, Concept's project team co-ordinated with both the construction firm and Rio Tintos project management team to achieve hand-over on time despite several external challenges.
The walls have been designed with a number of built-in redundancies including auto change-over dual lamp systems, and many redundant power supplies. To further safeguard the systems reliability, automatic email notification to both RTIO and Concept staff has been configured to provide instant notification of any non-nominal operational parameters.
With 29 years in the AV industry, I have seen many changes however none greater than the last 3 years.
